What is the Management / HealthChek Report?
The PainChek management report promotes strong pain management practices by providing organisational and site leadership with monthly data revealing actionable insights to guide staff in managing the pain of those in their care.
Our new reporting style – dubbed the ‘HealthChek’ - builds on this by utilizing 5 key metrics to paint a clear picture of how well a site is managing their pain using the PainChek assessment tool.
How should I use HealthChek reporting?
Organisational leadership can use the HealthChek reporting to understand how the organisation (and the sites under their umbrella) are performing at a glance. Utilse the benchmark within the facilities table to inform discussions with stakeholders at sites, to improve the key aspects of pain management across your organisation.
For site leadership, the HealthChek metrics and scores should guide the areas of pain management to focus on with care staff, to improve how you manage pain in your care setting.
How Are My Scores Calculated Against the 5 Metrics?
The 5 HealthChek Metrics have been chosen as the key metrics that distinguish between strong and poor pain management.
These metrics have each been separated into 6 different thresholds in line with best pain management policy, each tier corresponding with a score out of five (0-5).
For example, using the PainChek Automatic facial analysis technology over 90% of the time scores a 5/5 for that metric, where using it 10% of the time would net a score of 1/5. This is because utilizing the PainChek facial analysis technology more often ensures that the 9 pain indicators in the face are not being missed, as they can be hard to discern to the naked eye.
The 'thresholds' represent not only what is considered the standards for pain management practice, but also resemble the distribution for how all PainChek organisations rank across these different metrics.
The higher your score, the better your team are managing pain and performing against other organisations using PainChek.
How Can I Change my Organisation’s Target Score?
Please contact your PainChek Account Manager or PainChek support to change your organisation’s target score.
Note
The Target Score can only be set as one number for all facilities within your PainChek license.
How Can I Update Who Receives the New Management Report?
With the renewed focus of the monthly management report, consider updating the distribution lists for both the Organisational Management Report and Site Management Reports for each facility within your organisation.
See the Managing Reports for instructions on how to do this, or contact your PainChek Account Manager.
How is the Organisation Score Calculated?
An organisation’s score is calculated as the culminated total of all site data across the organisation, which is fit into the HealthChek metrics. This means that your larger sites will have a greater impact on your Organisation Score.
Why Does My Organisation Score Not Sit in the Middle of my Organisation’s Site Scores Table?
Because your Organisation Score is the culminated total of all site data, it is impacted by the varying sizes of your sites. In the Facilities HealthChek Results table, your Organisation Score might not appear in the middle of all of your sites for this reason, instead being skewed in the direction of your sites with the most residents / assessments. This is intended, and so where you see your Organisation Score within the table will be an accurate representation of how well the Organisation is managing pain at large.
Why is my Organisation Score Listed as N/A?
If an Organisation Score is listed as N/A in the Site Table, that means there were less than 5 assessments conducted at that site across the month.
Why is a HealthChek Metric Displaying as N/A?
Seeing N/A next to a HealthChek Metric indicates that there is insufficient data captured during the previous month to assign a Score to that Metric. In most cases, this means there are less than five instances of that metric (e.g. less than 5 follow up assessments completed).
Can I Use the HealthChek Reporting to Benchmark My Organisation / Site Against the Industry?
Benchmarks against the industry standards isn't a specific focus for this first version of the HealthChek reports.
However, both through the customisable 'Target Score' and the way our 'HealthChek Metrics' are implicitly scored, an organisation or site can get a good sense for where they sit compared to the industry and create a goal on the reports to represent expected performance through the Target Score feature.
Is the HealthChek Benchmark Available on the PainChek Portal?
Not at this stage, but as the report is integrated into our client’s workflows, we can see how having this report on-demand would be of great benefit.
If you are interested in this report being added to the PainChek web portal, please contact your PainChek account manager and they will pass along the feedback to the right people in our team.
